(From gulf-daily-news.com) Illegally-dumped sewage is being blamed for the deaths of thousands of fish off Bahrain.
The sewage was dumped in the Ma”ameer channel and all the fishes died in the immediate area, say environmental investigators. Last year, thousands of fish died from lack of oxygen in Sitra, Sanad and Tubli Bay during the summer.
The government probe committee is being supervised by the Municipalities and Agriculture Ministry and will comprise officials from the commission, the Heath and Interior ministries and others.
The commission has already submitted its report to the Cabinet.
Dr Al Madani said that the dead fish weighed a total of 60kg.
They were small fish, with more than 20 per cent of them being bluespot mullet.
