Sperm Whale Spotted Swimming in Highland Bay is ‘Too Big to Rescue’

(From telegraph.co.uk)- A whale spotted swimming in circles in a Highland bay is so large that wildlife experts say they will be unable to help if it becomes stranded.  Experts are monitoring the adult sperm whale, which is thought to be around 45ft long and could weigh more than 40 tonnes. The species is normally found in the deep waters of the North Atlantic and the Scottish SPCA said it may have health problems and could be seeking a place to die. “He has been swimming around in circles, seeming disorientated.”
