Manatees rescued from Titusville drainpipe

(From floridatoday.com) Titusville, Florida- A pair of lovestruck manatees got marooned in a stormwater pipe Sunday afternoon, sparking a successful multi-agency rescue mission.Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission biologists, SeaWorld personnel and Titusville police, firefighters and stormwater workers converged on the scene. Wearing wetsuits, a handful of rescuers clambered down a manhole ladder into the dark pipe and coaxed the trapped manatees backward about 150 feet, where they returned to the river.No injuries were reported.
