(From dailypress.com)- Three stranded sea turtles dubbed “Snap”, “Crackle”, and “Pop” will be released off Cape Charles on Tuesday by the Virginia Aquarium. In July they were rescued from the cooling water intake of a nuclear generator station. All had injuries and needed to be rehabilitated. The aquarium treated them and fed them herring and shrimp along with vitamin supplements. All of the turtles are about the size of a dinner plate. The turtles are Kemp”s Ridley Sea Turtles, one of the most endangered of the species. To report a dead or live stranded marine mammal or sea turtle call the Virginia Aquarium Stranding Response Program 24-hour hotline at 757- 437-6159.
