(From stv.tv)- The fulmars of Eynhallow have to be among the most studied birds on the planet. These northern relatives of the albatross return here each year to breed. The females lay just a single egg. The surprise discovery is that some are having to fly above the Arctic Circle, to northern Norway. Professor Paul Thompson from the University of Aberdeen said: “It highlights and we know that in recent years they have really been struggling to maintain their breeding success so that may indicate that there is just not enough food around locally.”
