(From mirror.co.uk)- A dramatic decline in puffins in the North sea has been confirmed by a new National Trust survey.Breeding pairs have fallen by a third in the past five years in the Farne islands, home to England”s largest colony. The drop from 55,674 pairs to 36,500 pairs on the islands, off the Northumberland coast, has left scientists baffled.Experts believe they may be being killed by storms cutting off their food supply. There are 500,000 breeding pairs of puffins in the UK.
