(From 3news.co.nz)- The Department of Conservation is joining forces with far north residents to try and stop a repeat of the seal pup horror at Shipwreck Bay. Nineteen seal pups have already been killed by marauding dogs at the bay, and necropsies show that some of the dead seals were eaten while they were still alive. It is believed that the dogs responsible are not local and residents are now being even more vigilant in not allowing them to run free. Now DOC has joined forces with those living near the beach in tracking down unchained dogs.
