Convention That Protects Whales Submitted to the Dominican Senate

(From dominicantoday.com) Santo Domingo – The Executive Branch submitted the International Convention for the Whale Hunting Regulation to the Senate for its ratification, an agreement first signed in December, 1946.

The Executive says the Dominican Republic is one of the few places in the world that whales use as a mating area and the Convention commits our nation to provide the necessary tools to protect them.

The Executive adds that the country protects marine mammals, as evidenced by the decree issued in July, 1996, which created the Marine Mammal Sanctuary along the Dominican Atlantic coast.
