(From nj.com)-A dead 55-foot whale was found washed ashore yesterday at Island Beach State Park.The fin whale had been dead for more than a week, said Robert Schoelkopf, director of the Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Atlantic County. It had gotten caught in some fishing gear, but it wasn”t clear how the mammal had died. In Ocean City, a dead sea turtle that had been struck by a boat was discovered, as was a live harbor seal that had been released by an aquarium in Mystic, Conn. Early last month, a dead 40-foot fin whale washed up at Seven Presidents Park in Long Branch.
