(From news-journalonline.com)- Thieves hit three sea turtle nests on Flagler Beach sometime overnight Sunday, making off with an estimated 106 eggs and breaking a host of state and federal laws in the process. State and federal laws protect sea turtles, their eggs and their nests.
Poachers face jail time and thousands of dollars in fines if caught and convicted of stealing eggs and disturbing nests.
Ottlein said the fine for possessing turtle eggs is $100 for the first egg and $60 for each additional egg.
