Sea Turtle Washed Up Dead On Ft. Lauderdale Beach

In Fort Lauderdale, a loggerhead sea turtle was found dead on Tuesday. Its lifeless remains washed ashore in what some observers believe was an accident with a boat illustrated by the deep lacerations on its shell.
Eunike Steneresen, who studies turtles at FAU, added “He”s definitely hit by a boat. He has deep marks on top of his shell. If you look at the back of it, part of its shell is actually taken off and his tail is all cut up; he got hit pretty bad.”

Sea turtles are a threatened and endangered species living in the ocean.

Broward County Wildlife Officials said that since the first of the year, at least 13 turtles have been killed. This specific turtle was a female whose age could range from forty to ninety years.

Five species of sea turtles are found swimming in Florida’s waters and nesting on Florida’s beaches. All sea turtles found in Florida are protected under state statutes.
