IUCN for govt bid to save dolphins PDF Print E-mail

Ganges River Dolphin. Endangered (IUCN)International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has pleaded for a proper management of gill net fishing and an effective water management policy so as to conserve river dolphins in India.

"Most of the dolphins get killed after being trapped in the gill nets used by fishermen. A mechanism needs to be developed which should ensure that the dolphins, accidentally trapped in these nets, are released safely.
