Dolphin population 'at risk from military exercise' PDF Print E-mail

APThe ''Joint Warrior'' operation will see up to 20 warships, four submarines and 40 aircraft from nine countries take to the waters around Scotland for Europe's largest military exercise.

The exercise, which takes place twice a year, will be expanded this year into the Moray Firth – a Special Protection Area for wildlife.

The North Sea inlet, which lies to the north east of Inverness, is home to 130 bottlenose dolphins – the only resident colony in the country.
