Credits: WikipediaThe United States said on Wednesday it will seek a ban on the international trade of bluefin tuna to protect the species at a meeting this month in Qatar, in a move opposed by Japan.

European nations are divided. Monaco has spearheaded the drive for the ban but other Mediterranean states such as Spain and Greece have voiced opposition.
