Save the marine turtlesA marine turtle survey has been recently completed near Ella Bay in Far North Queensland Australia. After discovering previously unrecorded marine turtle nesting areas the survey was submitted to the Cairns and Far North Environment Center and the Environmental Defenders Office. Within a day these two groups prepared a legal request for the minister to consider the marine turtles when assessing a multimillion dollar resort which threatens to destroy this magnificent wild bay. The minister has opened up this information to public comment and we wish to make an appeal to Ocean Sentry supporters and readers. We know you guys aren’t sitting around looking for something to do but thought as it involved matters of maritime conservation you would like to be in the loop!

Ella Bay (Credits Russell Constable - ellabayforever.blogspot.com)We would like to provide a link to the minister’s website and appeal to everybody to give some supporting comments for these marine turtles. We have received enthusiastic support so far and every supporting comment helps. It’s a window of opportunity for people to have their say!

See HERE for more information on the turtle nesting sites and the implications for the development.

See HERE more information on the proposed development.
